Carmelo Anthony is launching StayMe7o, a cannabis brand aimed at elevating Black entrepreneurs and promoting equity in the industry. Anthony has partnered with Jesce Horton, the founder of Grand National Agency, to create a brand that prioritizes legacy over profit. A portion of StayMe7o's proceeds will support NuProject, a nonprofit dedicated to building generational wealth through the legal cannabis industry for Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities. Carmelo Anthony is also the founder of VII(N) The Seventh Estate, a wine brand that aims to diversify the industry and bring a fresh perspective to traditional winemaking. The cannabis industry is growing rapidly, but it still faces challenges such as lingering stereotypes and a patchwork of state laws. Black cannabis entrepreneurs are underrepresented in the industry, making up less than 2% of the total industry as of 2022.
